Hope that you all have a Great Weekend.

When do you start giving your kids responsibility ? When did you have them be babysitter?? I'm curious ..if you babysat..when did start and how long? At what age did you actually get paid or not ..

  1. Hanna started babysitting for other peopel at age 13. I personally don't pay my kids for watching their sibling, either. Part of being in a family is my outlook. Sounds like a fill weekend; enjoy it!

  2. Responsibility for watching other kids? Mine aren't old enough. For me, my mom ran a daycare and I always helped with that. I started babysitting at 10 when my mom "offered" my services to the low-income families. (I was mature for my age.) I would not get paid much.... like 30 cents for 3 hours. If I got paid at all. Plus, I was taught to pick up after the kids and make sure kitchen was clean (dishes). Later on, started charging $2.50 plus any tip the gave me. My rep grew to the point I got $5-10 an hour plus they would pick me up from another town. I don't like the babysitters now because home is messy when we get home & plus it's SO EXPENSIVE! $6-10 an hour! For just watching a movie & ki going crazy! I should just blog about this instead of leaving a long comment! Sorry!

  3. Well, I already give the girls responsibilities, but as far as babysitting, sorry, I think I only did that a few times and it was for cousins and my nephew so I didn't get paid or anything.
I was thinking that when Sylvia is 12 (in Oct.), I may try going to the grocery store with the girls at home, but the closer that gets, the less sure I am! I hope you'll post about people's responses!
