Ascendant Book Review
This is the 2nd book in the killer unicorn series. I admit I have wanted to read the first book, but never got around to it.
This book does good in catching up the reader with what happened in the first book.
Astrid is able to kill unicorns and she works with other girls in the cloister. She goes to France and helps Isabella with working with unicorns. There she is schooled, and dresses in better clothes. Phil is her older sister and likes Neil -who recruits for finding more Unicorn Hunters.
Giovanni goes off to school in New York , and she runs into Brandt while trying to find Seth. Brandt also used to Astrid boyfriend. Her best friend is Cory and since these girls are hunters , they can feel the unicorns around them through magic.
There is a lot of discussion about virginity and the importance of it ,and also lesbianism with the order of the lioness.
It also shows the effects of fighting the unicorns and what happens to the girls. Her mother is always on TV and showing the world that her daughter is the super girl. Phil( her sister) is trying to save the unicorns.
This was such a different story and I liked the sisterhood . Astrid goes to France and helps the enemy , but also learns more about herself and the unicorns. Her family is interesting with her mom on the news , but she is fighting the unicorns and giving a face to the cause.
The story ended abruptly wanted to find out what happens with Astrid and the order. I do hope to see another book, but haven't seen anything anywhere about another book.
Book Review = 4/B
Thanks to Harper teen for the book and this is my Honest Review
