Summer in Paris--Book Review

Kenzie Williams feels like she has it all; wealth, friends, popularity and talent. But when her father tells her that he has declared bankruptcy, her whole world in New York City turns upside down. Her parents' solution while they sort through their financial and marital problems is to send Kenzie to live with her relatives in Paris...Idaho!

Feeling like she's been sentenced to three months in Hickville Prison, Kenzie arrives in Idaho feeling like a square peg with name brand clothes, in a round, horribly podunk, hole.

Leaving everything she loves behind, Kenzie is forced to get up at the crack of dawn, do chores, and hang out with her cousin's loser friends. She feels like she's about to die until she meets Adam White, the town outcast, who's been accused of killing his best friend and is being blamed for some trouble that's been happening around town.

Not only is Adam the best-looking guy she's ever seen, but he's also the most fascinating guy she's ever met and Kenzie is determined to get to know him and find out his secret. But, the longer she stays in Paris, the more she realizes, Adam isn't the only one keeping secrets.(goodreads.com)

What a cute story and somewhat predictable --but it great story of young romance.

Kenzie family made some wrong financial choices living in New York. They have to file for bankruptcy, and figure out what going to happen with their family. Kenzie is sent to live with her aunt and uncle for the summer is Paris Idaho, not Paris France ( which she told her friends). Kenize is put to work to help on the farm and doing chores. She gets to know and love her cousins and makes friends with the local kids. Kenzie at times seems too perfect that , she can't do anything wrong or won't make the wrong choice.

Kenzie wants to know all about Adam( bad boy) who might or might not hurt his best friend. He also is the neighbor to Kenzie. Reading this book - the Aunt Frankie seemed so perfect. She able to organize an event and still have time to raise her 2 kids and work on a farm.Kenzie makes friends with Hoover, Trev, and Allison. The town reminded me of my visit to Gunnison UT , to visit my MIL some years ago and it had that small town atmosphere.

I read this book like any other  book, and I could tell that the author was ( LDS) but through out the book, the hints were subtle and not totally in your face and there was only 1 mention that they did go to church. But another hint was the mention of scouting.. and being a member I could read between the lines about different kinds of  jello. Simon was a prepared kid and almost seemed perfect, where are Calvin was a normal teenager.

I did like the kids were normal and had dreams outside of the town, and wanted to be more.I did like that there were secrets among the friends. They weren't all perfect , and had different issues to figure out.  There was a scene on the boat and all I can say --they were teenagers.

It was nice to see a normal family and actually them around in the book, and granted it was her aunt and uncle, but sending kids to a somewhere is a norm it seems in stories like Firespell and Fallen or having parents being Missing in Action is very prevalent in young adult fiction.
