#3 Write about what blogging means to you. Why do you blog? What purpose does it serve you and how have you benefited from sharing a piece of yourself online this way?
Blogging started off as a family thing, another way to check out what was happening with my sisters blogs. I enjoyed sharing those moments with family and some friends.
I love reading books--big surprise and if you have borrowed a book from me in real life. I do love to pass along good books. Once I made contact with someone in Little Brown..my blog became more public and got more followers and that's when I started doing giveaways more often. My blog has slowly grown over time and I've enjoyed that aspect of it.
Reading books has lead to knowing about great books that are coming , and I have made some awesome real life blogging buddies . I've been a contributor to the Blog with Bite and doing those book reviews and , in turn made friends with Rach, Emily, Tina..
But through online I have found some twitter friends like Brandie, Karen, Lisa , Angie, Lolli who I do consider great friend even though I never met them.
I don't always share with what happens here ..but I do share a portion of my life online. The kids know that I blog but I have never put their names on the blog...just initials and pics. I've learned some lessons when I did blog before but then I took that blog down because I understand once it out there, it can come back and haunt you. That's why I never talk negative about my DH or family. This isn't the my place to be sharing my dirty laundry . I also understand that everyone goes this at one time or another and that's why I try to always remain positive with all my kids & family.
What also I gained from blogging is being able to give my story or opinion on books, boots, and jewelry. I'm happy with sharing my experiences whether good or bad about a product. This was a topic discussed at Boot Bloggy Camp.
Awww. Thanks Julie! I consider you a friend also - <3!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I feel like I have a big group of buddies now!
ReplyDeleteThat was really sweet of you Julie! I have found some great people via blogging and twitter and you are defiantly on the list I call friends. :) <3
ReplyDeleteAs SITS would say, you are my tribe! :) I love meeting blogging friends and feeling that instant connection, because we've already established a strong base. Someday we'll meet!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It's good to know the reason BEHIND someone's motives! :) I love your blog! Your positivity shines through! :) Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Julie...:D I agree nothing toooo personal on the blogs I like to share thoughts on books and talk about stuff that I would say to the whole world but nothing I would want everybody knowing like family stuff and just private things. It amazes me what some people will put on their blogs and the pics they put.I think vlogging is fun and may do that sometime but Im pretty private otherwise so who knows.
ReplyDeleteI too only share a portion of the real Dumb Mom online. Pretty much it's the interesting, funny, high energy portion that people actually like. The other portion I keep for people in my real life. The ones that can't escape by logging off. They are SO lucky!
ReplyDeleteI love reading and will be visiting more often!
ReplyDeleteI like that you don't share every aspect of your life on your blog... really there's no reason that any of us should do that! There's a line where there's just to much info shared!
Visiting from Mama Kat's!
I love blogging. I love the community of book aficionados.
