Yes! This past May when I went to BEA in NYC I met tons!! My favorite was Jeri Smith-Ready - I''m a big fan of her books obviously but she turned out to be such an incredibly nice person too. For debut authors - I met Alexandra Diaz - "Of All the Stupid Things", we met for coffee (and she has even sent my dogs treats before!) and Irene Latham "Leaving Gee's Bend" - she is just the nicest southern gal you will ever meet - adorable!! I had lunch and went to a movie with Julia Hoban who wrote one of my favorite books - "Willow", so that was a thrill. Then I got to go to RWA (Romance Writers Association) author signing in Orlando and I met Jeaniene Frost (squee!) Cynthia Eden - SO NICE!, Simone Elkeles, Jennifer Echols, Kelley Armstrong....so many ....but I won't bore you anymore. It was a very **squee** worthy year!! Karen of FWIW
Yes!! I met one of my favorite authors, Lara Adrian, earlier this year. I blogged about it. She was so gracious and it was amazing!--Jen Twimom
Tons but it came with being a bookstore manager for 10 years and being in charge of autograph signings.Michelle Redheaded book
Just at BEA last year. Since most authors visit NY and Philly, they usually skip right over Jersey. --Jennifer Reading with Tequila
I met Ann M. Martin in 9th grade. I've gone to a few other author signings here and there.--Alison Can Read
No. But there's tons of cool authors that call Florida home; including Christina Gonzalez.--Juju Tales of Whimsy
Nope, not yet anyway--Emily What book is that ??
The very first author signing I ever went to was the perfect example of being at the right place at the right time. I was bored at home so I took the kids to the Americana in Glendale, CA. It's a fairly new outside shopping plaza. They have a HUGE Barnes & Noble (I believe it's 3-stories). I was in the BN browsing around and noticed that people were getting ready for an author to come speak and do a signing. That author was Candace Bushnell. I bought a copy of her latest release at that time, One Fifth Avenue, and got it signed by her. I was in awe! This is the woman who created Sex and the City!
My most memorable author meeting, hands down, was with Nicholas Sparks. I didn't think he ever came to CA so when I heard he was coming to a city about an hour away from me, I knew I was going to be there. It was the most awesome experience ever. He is my favorite author. I was on cloud nine.
I have also been to signings for Maggie Stiefvater (she's a great storyteller, on paper and in person) and Lauren Kate (she's such a sweetheart!).-- The Book Vixen
I haven’t had the chance to…. yet. -- Lisa Bound by Books
I have only met one author ( Brenda Pandos through MOPS), and wanted to meet many more signing around town. I do have some local authors on my blog that I do hope to meet one day soon --Like Allison and a mom to 5 kids.(Hint Hint hint) So I'm going to try and meet my local authors and also Sophie & and many more.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could meet more authors. But "meeting" them or getting to know them through blogs and twitter is really amazing. Authors feel so much more like real people to me now that I'm involved with the blogging community.
ReplyDeleteI like the new little banner you added to the feature!
