Maya Delaney is adopted , and lives in a small town in Washington. In this town the St. Clouds have a research facility to test drugs. The town has 200 people in it.
Maya has a paw print on her body, and she wants to celebrate her heritage by getting a tattoo. When she is going to get it with her mom, she is called a Witch. Maya has been friendly with the cougars in town, and she has the ability to heal animals.
Maya is best friends with Daniel. She is attracted to Rafe - who has been in the town for 3 years. Maya is also struggling with the loss of her friend who was swimmer that drowned. She is starting to get more curious with Daniel about the loss of her friend. They don't questioning things til a reporter comes to town.
This is mystery , paranormal story and I liked it very much. This also reminded me of the movie " Disturbing Behaviour", and I know that I am dating my self with this knowledge but it reminded me of a John Saul novel.
The ending was amazing , and I want to see what happens next with Maya and her friends. I loved that there were two parents and they had a great relationship with her.

Both parents in book and they are smart. There is drinking and kissing, maybe more with other side teens.
