Since Blogger and Amazon are being wonky. This will be the review for Shattering.
I have read her first book --The Guardian of the Dead and I liked it.
This is the story of Keri, Janna , and Sione who have all lost someone dear to them. There have been many deaths in Summerton. This is place where many people visit for holiday and hardly anyone new has come to stay in the town .
There is an accident and there is glass shattered on the street. I found this to be telling because these kids are going to shatter and break things up once they start solving this mystery. There is magic afoot and these kids are affected in different ways, and start wondering about certain people in town. There was mention of the rule of 3. Which means that bad things happen in 3 times.
Keri is also dealing with some personal issues along with Janna and Sione. They have to deal with different struggles. There is some romance and there is some bullying to some characters.
I enjoyed this book and I have been thinking about since I finished it. I think that there are adult situations, and drinking. I did enjoy learning more of the Maori culture.
Best Line: And when it came right down to it, all neo-pagan rituals were made up- that's why they were neo.Ritual worked, if you did it right : putting will into world, calling on deities or just the energy of the universe got results.
