Thaila  Apple is the daughter of a scientist mom , and a tech dad.  She is of mixed race of Chinese and Black. She is also privileged child living in the inner loop. She is an odd duck who can hack , but isn't online. Her grandparents live with her family. She also has been hearing her tummy growl. Her school is more of a focus group for product placement. Her best friend wants a job through the One world corporation.

She goes out with her friend and meets Basil. She smells new scents and he tells her about a meeting. Her mom would like her to checked out. She learns that the area , food and connections at the meeting. She get put into patient treatment, and Basil breaks her out. Thaila eyes are opened to the Outer rings, and learns more about the control of One World.

This book was different dystopian . Thaila is hungry for connection, food, and knowledge. She questions authority and even her insta relationship with Basil. I liked Apple because she stirs the pot, and she got people talking about the issues plaguing the area. Also the Parentals  were smart, involved , and she had a good relationship with them. Basil had a tough life but he seemed to readily believe the adults in charge. Basil also seemed to normal with anger issues at his life and family.

Book Review= C+/B-

  2. I've relieved to hear that the author doesn't throw the parents under the bus. That's a personal pet peeve of mine. I'm not overly fond of the character name choices though. Basil and Apple, seriously? Is this cookbook or a dystopian? ;)
