Moving

Yes we are moving to the hills. Its been a long time coming.  We are moving to a more rural area and making new adventures.  I have been reading but its been sporadic since covid-19. I have been working from home and helping my kids with their school work and helping kids for my job. I have no idea how the school year  is going to look like , but I know that distance learning isn't for everyone. Granted I did it for my BS Science

degree but its tough . My girls missed their friends.

I did read the newest Shannon Hale book and enjoyed it very much. I liked that she was able to go into books and felt a part of the story.

Since covid-19 I have been using the app: Marco Polo . Its great to see people and have conversations and view them when I'm available.  Just some photo's from the past year.

I finally did it

It was a long journey and doing it online , I had lots of busy work. I also had discussion board questions to answer. But I did it and got my Bachelor's degree in Public Health and health promotion . I love that this is such a big field. I have done this online schooling since 2016.  But I realized that it has taken me 27 years from my initial high school graduation to get this degree. I'm glad that I was able to show my kids that I can do it.  I have had some great teachers and great classes. I have also had some bad groups with and having to take a math class more than once. I was very grateful that I had that experience to walk for my degree.

Hey All - I'm still here

Sorry I haven't posted in some time. I have been busy with kids and schooling. I have one more semester til I graduate with my bachelors degree in public health and health promotion. My son is now a senior in High school. Our oldest daughter is a freshman in college. I have a freshman and 8th grade and 6th graders. We have all been busy with life . I have been reading books for school mostly. I read this book for my international health class and loved it.  I also completed an internship . So this is update of sorts.

Not now Not ever Book Review

Book information: Elliot Gabaroche is very clear on what she isn't going to do this summer.

1. She isn't going to stay home in Sacramento, where she'd have to sit through her stepmother's sixth community theater production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
2. She isn't going to mock trial camp at UCLA.
3. And she certainly isn't going to the Air Force summer program on her mom's base in Colorado Springs. As cool as it would be to live-action-role-play Ender's Game, Ellie's seen three generations of her family go through USAF boot camp up close, and she knows that it's much less Luke/Yoda/"feel the force," and much more one hundred push-ups on three days of no sleep. And that just isn't appealing, no matter how many Xenomorphs from Alien she'd be able to defeat afterward.

What she is going to do is pack up her determination, her favorite Octavia Butler novels, and her Jordan's, and go to summer camp. Specifically, a cutthroat academic-decathlon-like competition for a full scholarship to Rayevich College, the only college with a Science Fiction Literature program. And she's going to start over as Ever Lawrence, on her own terms, without the shadow of all her family’s expectations. Because why do what’s expected of you when you can fight other genius nerds to the death for a shot at the dream you’re sure your family will consider a complete waste of time?

This summer's going to be great.

About the author:
LILY ANDERSON is an elementary school librarian and Melvil Dewey fangirl with an ever-growing collection of musical theater tattoos and Harry Potter ephemera. She lives in Northern California. She is also the author of The Only Thing Worse than Me Is You.

My review of this book :
I just finished this book last night. I enjoyed that while she did break some rules and trying to find herself. She also found love with Brandon who happens to live in the state of Oregon. He also happens to use a typewriter for his notes. I enjoyed the team aspect of this book and trying to get a scholarship. I loved her friends and the many other friends that Brandon knew from this school. Overall I stayed up late reading this book and would recommend it. I enjoyed that this book took place in Sacramento which is near me. I did love all the nerd references from Ready player one to Battle star Galactic. Great and fun book.

Book Review = B+
