Schools out and gas prices etc

It been almost 1 week since the kids have been home from school. Its been fine and the house is still messy but the kids are having fun. Next week M starts summer school along with A. K will be still doing speech too.

The kids will be doing swimming lessons and we are having a family reunion in July. So far those are summer plans. I don't want to be driving all over the place with gas prices as high as they are now.
What are you paying for gas ?? I'm paying $4.49 just to fill up my minivan.

I had lunch from my kids principal at Macaroni Grill. It was yummy and nice to sit and talk with all the other ladies that I worked with this past year on the PTA. I told them in March that I wouldn't be doing it because I don't want to be burnt out and I also have more kids still to get into Kindergarten. I would help them but not as much.

I had my 1st meeting to discuss Moppets and all my observations and what worked and didn't. It was a good meeting overall and I was able to tell how I felt and what I saw happen and that I should always be kept in the loop and suggestions for name tags and kids area. I have been thinking ......got a house full of kids.

I have been thinking need something else to obsess over besides Twilight. I know it just a book and Edward is just a character but I know its silly at times. But I bought all the Harry Potter books but I never bought shirts or stuff. I should find another author to read ....so taking suggestions of new authors.

  1. I really like Jodi Picoult. She is the author of My Sisters Keeper & Plain Truth. She has aton of books. I really like her writting style but have found that I can't read them back to back. Happy reading.

  2. Good luck on your book hunt! I enjoy the Sophia Kinsella books (Shopaholic series and a few others). They are fun, fast reads and I really like the characters. And the Confessions of a Shopaholic book is being made into a movie this winter, too. I don't really get into a lot of heavy current event books. I have enough in my life to stress over as it is!! I want books that make me happy. :)

  4. We are lucky, I know because we are only paying 3.79 for gas right now. My sister just bought a scooter for her husband and it gets 80 mpg. The payment is only 60 a month, which is cheaper than the gas you will save. Good luck

  5. Jodi Picould rocks. As does Jacquelyn Mitchard. And John Irving. I pay 3.89/gallon per gas, which has meant that we just don't get to go camping or anything over the summer. can't afford the gas.

  6. I am trying to talk my hubby into making me a rickshaw. I have been asking for one for over a year. Then I wouldn't have to pay these abominable gas prices. I haven't bought gas in over a month so I don't know what it is here.
On the book front.... Try the City of Bones series I can't remember the authors name. If I think of any others, I will let you know.

  9. I also like Jodi Picoult. I have read several of her books. She has a great way of making you think about the things, usually about ethical situations, and I'm always learning something when I read one of her novels. Another author to check out is Anita Shrieve. She wrote the Pilot's Wife, Broken Sea Glass, A Wedding in December, etc. I think that her style of writing is pure literature...beautifully written.
