Never Cry Werewolf- BWB

Shelby’s summer plans go totally awry when her horrible stepmother sends her off to “brat camp” as punishment for one too many broken curfews. Camp is full of spoiled rich kids, obnoxious counselors wanting Shelby to talk about her feelings, and a totally inhumane “no cell phones” policy.

Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges III. But soon she realizes there’s more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby’s help guarding it. Shelby knows that bad boys get her into trouble…but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good-looking one? (Goodreads.com)

This is a Young Adult novel by a first time author and only 215 pages. Its a cute story of a rich girl who goes to rich brat camp and sent there by an evil stepmother. She then meets a rich , rebel boy , and this story takes place over 2 week time period at a camp.

I loved that the story mentioned Beauty and the Beast & Little Red Riding Hood and ,add and enchanted forest , and romance with troubled teens who have something in common.Liked the supporting characters of Price and Ariel. It was cute to see them help Shelby out with her romance with Austin.Liked the honesty in the relationship between Shelby and Austin. I like that they started out with friendship. It seemed like real relationship of normal kids.

The villain in the book was another camper trying to get the scoop on Austin's family and publish any information that he could about him in the family newspaper. It seemed to short and I wanted to find out what happened after Camp ended. It does leave the door open for another book.

I didn't seem to know much about Austin the lycan who suddenly fell in love with Shelby. I got that he was British , and had a rock star dad. It moved to fast for story. They meet and he suddenly tells her that he is werewolf. I felt that his character wasn't as fleshed out as it could be.

My favorite lines from the book:
Normal's overrated or so I've been told- Shelby pg.44
In the woods it seemed like we might be friends -- Austin pg.53

Would I let my daughter read this book : Yes
