Bitten--BWB Book Review

Ever since her parents were killed in a car accident when she was five, Elena Michaels has longed for a normal family life. Smart, beautiful, and engaged to be married, Elena hopes to fulfill that dream when disaster strikes. Not only has her fiance lied about his secret life as a werewolf, but he's made her one, too. She has no choice but to join him at Stonehaven, the upstate New York home of an elite pack of werewolves.
In an attempt to break away, she moves to Toronto to lead a normal life. Working as a journalist, Elena now lives with her new architect boyfriend, works out in the basement gym of their high-rise apartment, lunches with girlfriends from the office, and—once a week, at four in the morning—runs naked and furred through a downtown Toronto ravine, ripping out the throats of her animal prey. But when a band of outlaw werewolves threatens the Stonehaven pack, Elena's feral instincts drive her back there to join the defense. What follows is a war for territory, for pride, and ultimately for Elena herself.( Goodreads.com)

My thoughts:

After reading another book by this author within the same world...I like this character better. There was a different tone and feel to her. She had a tough life and struggled through it.

Elena is a strong female who has had a tough life. She is living with Phillip in Toronto and has a job. She is werewolf and is keeping secrets from her fiance. She receives a call from her pack family and comes down to them in Stonehaven. While there someone is killing her family. She is bound a determined to help her pack out.

Elena was bitten by Clay who also used to be her fiance. She wants to be part of both worlds and has a tough time with it. While back in Stonehaven, her routines with Clay become normal again with the change and having him around . They have lots of  animal sex . While there , she forgets to call Phillip and is enjoying her life with out hiding her true self all the time.

While there are more killing , they decide its best that she go back to her normal life and try to wait the Mutts out. This book had alot of action, romance, inner turmoil, and love.

I don't know why I preferred this character Elena over Paige and they are in the same world. They both had rough lives and both are dating strong men. This is book that I would share with my friends.

There were some good lines:
Mending fences with Clay would mean surrender.it would mean he'd won, that biting me had been worth the trouble. He'd have his mate, the life partner of his choice, the realization of his own domestic dreams. Well i had my own dreams , and Clay had no role in them.

There was a lot on internal dialogue between Elena and her self and the choices she had to make with her life. This is the 1st book in the series and might check out the other women or just stick with her.

Book Review=4
BWB=3

I bought this book and this is my Honest review

1.Let's talk relationships. What did you think of Elena's relationship with Philip? Were her feelings for him genuine? Why or why not? I think that a part of her feelings were real for him. But at the same time, she was hiding out from the pack.

2.Keeping secrets from someone you love, is it being true to yourself? Elena was hiding out in Toronto and away from the Pack. Did this make Elena a stronger character or whiny? I do think it made her a stronger character to me, and I don't she was being true to her self by hiding away her true nature and I did find her to more of thinker and less of a whiner compared to the other character.

3.Kelley Armstrong's werewolves lean more towards the traditional side of the wolf legend. What "were" type are you? Do you enjoy the pain riddled, desiring human flesh werewolves like the Wolfman or the intensely scary wolves like in the movie Silver Bullet or do you prefer painless shifters that keep a majority of human emotions...ie..Twilight and other light PNR novels? I thought that it was great to read something of the normal werewolves , and something different from the other novels. I think I'm the pain riddled desiring human flesh werewolves. Totally Old school here.

4.Could you forgive the man you loved if he were to BITE you like what occurred with Elena? I think I could forgive someone over time like Elena did with Clay. But it had taken over 10 years for her to decide and accept that this was her life , and her mate. Love and Trust is a two way street, and Clay for all his anger, was still in love with her since her days in College.

  1. Great review Julie. I really do think that Armstrong biased us against Paige almost immediately because of how bossy and aggravating Paige is in Stolen. Elena did quite take to her that well...and well Clay of course really didn't like her much either. Which is why going into DSM and IM you go in with pre-ordained feelings of dislike towards Paige.
