Peeking at the endings ??

I didn't want to do Mama Kat's prompts this week, But it did get me thinking along the lines for other topics that I want to talk about -- Books.

I have this nasty habit. I admit as child that I peeked at presets at Christmas time.  I also wanted to find out the sex of all my kids too. I also had to make sure that Santa put something in my stocking. Once I saw that it full of something. I could sleep better.  I also like to read the back of the book .

Does knowing an ending make it easier for you to read the book or more curious ? I like reading the ending because I like to see how it came from point A to Point B and if there is going to be another book.

I don't always do this for all the books I do read , but there are some like Breaking Dawn, I had to know what happened.

Do you remember the scene from When Harry Met Sally ?? He says that He always reads the back of the book..just to know how it ends.

What do you do ?? Do you Peek at the endings or want to see what happens ??

  1. I do this too! I thought I was the only one who did this! My hubby always tells me that it ruins the book, but I don't think it does.LOL

  2. I have to admit, that there are a lot of factors in whether I look to the back for a peek.

Most of the time I don't, but if the book is super good and I am dying of suspense or if it's loosing my attention and I wonder if I should continue , I might take a little gander...

  3. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Sometimes when I am having difficulty getting into the book, I will peek at the end to see if it is worth finishing. Do I really need to know how they got from point A to point B and does it really matter to me? Many times if I have done that, peeked ahead, I find that I won't finish the book because, I have my questions answered and didn't care that much about how it ended or how we got there. I will admit that lately I haven't been peeking quite as much. The books I am reading write now have me hooked and I really want to be surprised by how they end--I just hope they don't disappoint! Audio is great at keeping me from peeking too.

  4. First off I love this blog design - I have not seen it in a while what's wrong with me but it's soo cute!

2nd, nope never - EVER, I hate spoilers, HATE them and to read the back to know - EAK I just can't bring myself to, though sometimes I want to, with The Iron Daughter, I soooo wanted to flip to the back to see...but I could not allow myself to, heck sometimes, as with Fallen, I would not even let myself read the flap, because I was told it had spoilers in it... LOL

  5. I only ever look at the end if I know I don't want to finish the book. My friend does this all the time though and I remember she spent all of Eclispe thinking Bella had become a werewolf :)

  6. I don't usually peek... unless I can't stand knowing whether or not a character lives or dies. Them sometimes I will scan for their name just to make sure!

  7. I only peek if I can't get into the book. I have done that a few times. I mostly do it when I want to see if maybe there is going to be another book after the one I am reading. I usually don't look though because I don't want to spoil the ending for myself.

  8. If there's any suspense in the book at all I always peek. It makes me enjoy the book more knowing how it will end...good or bad. Good endings I look forward to and with bad endings I like to know to steel myself for it.

  9. Count me among the peepers! I love to know "whodunit", for example, so I can pay special attention to how they are portrayed in the rest of the book.

  10. It depends on the kind of book I am reading, and whether or not I am confused WHILE reading it.

  11. I’ve never peeked. I know lots of folks that do read the end but I can’t bring myself to do it :)
