Water Wars

The Water Wars
Water is a commodity that people want and need to survive. What happens when companies control how much water you can have or drink ??

Vera and Will are brother and sister in the new world. Water is gone , but there are other ways to get water to drink. Their mother isn't feeling very well. The kids go to school and after school if they have credits, then they go play video games our send videos out to their friends.

They meet Kai at the bus stop on the way to school. Kai befriends both kids, and slowly hangs out them more . Kai is always driven in a limousines. Kai tells them both of a river that gives fresh water. Loved the romance between Kai & Vera.

Kai gets taken because he has a special ability to find water. Vera and Will find some clues that lead them to Pirates who are also looking for Kai.The Pirates kidnap them , and take them new places that they have only heard about in books.

With Ulysses's ( a pirate) , they see grass and cattle. They have never seen this before. Along the way they meet PELA ( People's Environment Liberation Army) who blew up a dam, so that there can be water for every one. Will fixes a machine, so that they can escape . They learn that Bluewater has Kai , and they want to rescue him still.

Best Line: Save the kid, Find water, Get Rich

I'm not to say anymore about this book and what happens. Its a great stand alone book. Great Cover , and interesting dsytopian world. Do I buy into all the GREEN propaganda about saving the earth , and cabon footprint ??? This book did have me wondering what if there was very little water, and what kind of world that would be.

Book Review= C

  1. *nods* I understand. The environmental messages in almost any book strike me as heavy-handed. This one made me focus more on the world, though, so that redeemed it. :-)

  2. I've seen some average ratings for this book. I expected something with this one. Of course that happens to be the problem with some books. Too much hype, too much weight on it.

Today I posted a review of a grand Steampunkery Book!  Please do check it out, I highly recommend Vampire Empire: The Greyfriar if you want Steampunkery and a mix of many genres.  A new favorite... indeed a huggable book!

  3. I should mention that we have less then 1% of the worlds fresh water available for drinking water. (Science geek here) and we waste lots of it. There are also water wars going on in various other 3 world countries. It is not looking pretty at all.
