Angela has been trying to kill herself in many different ways. She is also searching for her brother . She is blood head and goes to school with witches, demons, jinns and has dreams about angels.
I read about 200 pages and trying to figure out who was good or bad. I understand that there was Books of Raziel and someone is going to become the something special and end something. Who ever it is supposed to be it the Archon.
Also if this was a young adult book, I was mislead because there was so much gruesome , and sex. I didn't connect to anyone at all, and I felt that like this was hot mess of confusion.
DNF= Did Not Finish
Thanks to the publisher for the book and this is my Honest Review
Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they're witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.
Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word . . . especially after she finds her mother's diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family's destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra. Thanks to Mindy's book tour but this was another book that I had a tough time getting into . I do love period books, and this is beautiful cover. I just didn't connect with anyone in this book. I didn't make it very far into this book. It was slow moving for me.
This year has started off great with books that I just couldn't finish.
I hate to hear that your year started off with slow reads, but maybe things will pick up for you soon! Hope so!
ReplyDeleteJulie, I completely feel for you. I absolutely hate when I can't complete a book, especially when a publisher has provided the book. All you can do is be honest and move on. Better luck on the books you're reading now!
ReplyDeleteI hope your reading starts to look up!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh...you and my friend Tracy (over at Petty Witter) are sharing the same fate it seems. Gotta break you out of the "bad read" cycle...
