Confessing about Comments

The holy grail of blogging success! What type of posts do you leave comments on? How do you try to encourage more comments on your blog? Do you respond to people who leave comments on your posts? How do you handle negative/spam comments? Do you use captcha?

Well I try to leave comments on all the blogs I do follow, but some times its impossible.  But I do leave meaningful comments on reviews and books that I do want to read in the future. I do think its tough to leave a comment, when all I see are all the same meme's. I do comment on mailboxes posts.

I do try to leave questions for comments about the book I reviewed or with a giveaway.

I try to comment back with each comment left on the blog. But its tough to do that , but sometimes I email the person if I can.

I haven't too many negative comments on the blog ( knock on wood) . Nope I don't use captcha because I haven't had too much spam and I want comments , so I want to make it easy for the blog followers or new visitors to do just that to comment.

I also like to have contests with comments being left. I know its selfish but its also a way to have my followers or anyone leave a comment with a book.

Thanks to Karen and Tiger for this little Meme

  1. It's so hard to keep up with all the blogs these days!

I'm trying to set aside a little time each day to get back to it. I haven't been too good at leaving comments these days.

  2. I try to comment on blogs I read too but honestly, sometimes I comment via twitter instead of the blog. I also subscribe through email to some blogs so I read the posts but you can't comment unless you click the email and go the blog. I usually don't take the time. Guess I should just start following rss to help myself out there. :)

  3. I agree it's really hard to keep up with everything. I do always try to comment back if someone stops by and says hi though :)

  5. I find that commenting became easier once I organized my reader. I put the blogs I follow in a category and checking in stopped being so overwhelming. Commenting seems to be everyone's struggle.

  6. I am awful at commenting anymore and I think it's because I need an easier way to keep track of blogs I really read rather then the ones in google reader-half of which don't post any more.

  7. I try to respond to all comments left on my blog and now that blogger has threaded comments it's so much easier.

One thing I recently started to do is I now end my reviews with a question. I find that this leads to more comments. I also try to visit those blogs who comment on mine.

  8. I try to comment back on all the blogs who comments on my blog. I'm not always perfect but I try. I think it's the best way to get involved in the blogging community.

  9. It's impossible to comment on every blog that I follow but I do try to visit certain blogs regularly. I also try to comment back, even if it takes me a few days to get there! ;)
