Blogger relations: Are there blogs you visit and comment on because you like their style, voice etc.(maybe you even converse with the blogger on Twitter & Facebook) but those comments are never reciprocated on your blog?. Do you get a bit offended or do you understand that they may be busy? Or do you comment just because you like a post not expecting anything in return?
I love commenting on blogs that belong to my friends. I comment on some blogs that big named but not always get a comment back. I love Smash Attack, Cuddlebugry, The Midnight Garden, Parajunkee.
I used to be offended but I understand that we all have lives and our busy, and not everyone can comment on all blogs. Its life.
I love when I get a response from my comment :) no matter the blog size.
Thanks karen and Pam for this topic
I think it was easier when we were all starting out. I know I used to check my google reader and comment several times a day.
ReplyDeleteThere are just too many blogs and not enough time these days.
I understand if people can't reply back to every comment you leave but is depressing sometimes whiny you're the only one commenting on a blog and they never comment back but oh well! lol
you are right there are so many blogs . Yes it does look lonely with 1 comment, but such is life LOL
DeleteI know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI use to get offended but not anymore.
:)
yep not offended anymore LOL
DeleteI definitely get bummed when someone doesn't comment on my blog in return but what are you going to do? I try to leave a lot of comments every day and I know people are busy but I don't track it or anything and I've never stopped following anyone because of it.
ReplyDeletewhat can you do ...I don't worry about it any more :)
DeleteI am the WORST at commenting on other blogs. It's something that I'm trying to do more of now. But I love chatting with you on Twitter, Julie! :D Thanks for the mention!
ReplyDeleteI love twitter for the discussion about books, and making friends there, but I know that not everyone will comment. C'est la Vie
DeleteI think that we can all agree that our busy schedules doesn't make reciprocity very easy. There are just soooo many blogs out there. I love commenting on my pal's blogs too...it feels more like a conversation.
ReplyDeleteyes with blogs that I do follow it feels like a coversation :)
DeleteI stalk you if that makes you feel better...? I'm with Smash, I know I am an asshole though, no thinking about it. But, for some reason I feel my comment has to be totally epic -- is that egotistical or insecure? I haven't figured it out. Therefor limiting my comments on other people's blogs. I do read yours though - I'm not going to be a liar and say I'm hear every day - but I do check out your confessions and your reviews on books I'm excited about. I feel like a douchenozzle...and especially with Juju! Because she is always commenting and I'm just stalking. I can only say I'll try harder...boo
ReplyDeleteConfessions is my fave part to talk about whatever. I totally get that you are busy...and I know that you can't comment everywhere . Still love you.
DeleteI am trying not to make you feel bad, but I totally get that you are busy :) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI am definitely trying harder to comment on people's blogs. I go through spurts of having a lot of time to comment and having no time. Last month I went a WEEK without checking any blogs and I felt like a terrible person.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I definitely just added you to my Google Reader and will now be stalking you on Twitter. :D

Yes its hard to comment on all the blogs :(
DeleteI love leaving comments because I know how much fun it is to receive them too! It's not easy when tastes are different, but that's why discussion posts such as this one are so great!
ReplyDeleteGood attitude to have! I also try not to get offended anymore.
ReplyDeleteyeah I don't want to stress over it :)
DeleteI really love that you brought up this topic. I comment quite a bit each day, and I try to comment back at some point if someone comments on my blog, even if it isn't right away. I know it can be unrealistic for many but it is something I personally try to do. I try not to let it bother me if I don't get comments back, but sometimes it does. I would never unfollow a blog for that because I do realize people are busy. But I must also admit, if after a few months of me leaving a comments here and there and I never get one back, I won't leave a comment on their blog as much anymore. But that's just me. :)
ReplyDeleteyes when you always leave a comment and person on the other blog doesn't..its tough. Yes we are all busy. Somestimes a kind word is enough
DeleteI try to visit blogs run by my favorite pals when I can (including you, Julie!), which usually means I read several posts at a time around once a week. I wish I had more time to follow up with friends, though it gets a little out of hand sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI admit I don't always reciprocate if people are commenting on a contest post, hah. (And I make an effort to comment on things other than just contest posts, too.)
thanks so much for always commenting. Yes its tough to comment on all of the blogs and I agree friends do come first :)
DeleteI understand everyone is busy, and many blogs I read and just like b/c I'm a busy person, too. If I feel like I have something to contribute to the comments, then I do. Usually everything I would've said has been said already:-)Guess I'm not too original, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love getting comments. I will say that every time I get a comment, I go to that person's blog and check out their latest posts and comment. I love hearing what people have to say. It makes the whole thing interactive!
ReplyDeleteI was of a completely different mindset in the beginning. So naive and top of the world enthusiasm. Those were the days. But I just couldn't hold up that level. I am still trying to find a balance so I don't find myself burnt out and out of the blogging biz. I think I developed a mantra, "I love books and blogging about them." I try to repeat that to myself when I get feeling low and wondering why I don't have a million comments. Usually it works.
ReplyDeleteI am completely new to all this blogging but I have started a blog because I think I read too much and sometimes just need to tell what I think. Never really thought about commenting, but I guess you've got a point. I have seen some blogs that were really all about bussiness and competition and not about really enjoying books with some reviews more a retelling of the story than giving their opinion. I mean, you want to suggest people to read something and not tell them what happens so that they know the story, but actually read it. That's why there are book descriptions for. And now I am sorry for taking out my frustration. The point is, it is nice to hear an opinion in the comments but still not the end of the world for not getting them. It's just a way of saying you were here and appreciated what someone wrote. So yeah, agree with ephrielle there. :)
