If you like Stephen king or Christopher  Pike you will love this little paranormal Book. 

About Violet White  and her brother Luke  living in their house which is named Citizen. They are of old money , and have rich family history on the east coast.  Her parents are artists and they are off doing their own thing. They decide to rent out the cottage, and then this young man named River rents the house. He has many secrets and can make things happen. She is attracted to him , and forgets what they were going to talk about. Luke and Sunshine are making a love connection. Sunshine is her best friend, and there rumors of crazy person .

Violet realizes that she is love with River. She also finds out that he can do some strange things. This book was creepy, and we meet more interesting people. Secrets are revealed and she has discussions with grandma who has passed on.

Danny has just lost his mom , and his sister is in China learning more about her history. His best friend is his dog Stanley. He has been broken up with his girl friend for some time. Danny is the valedictorian at his school, and his mom friend is helping him with estate.

He decides to go to Tokyo and finish cleaning out the apartment , and he finds that his mom has left him some notes for him to solve. He is floundering in his life, and feels very much like an orphan.

I wanted to connect with someone and the person I enjoyed the most was Kana. I did enjoy the parts with the dog , but sending the dog from one place to another , and showing off wealth was a bit much. I think that this book was about finding peace while someone you love is dealing with cancer.

I was totally excited to see some local authors. I went down with my kids to the Avid Reader in Davis for this book signing. I was able to hear some book passages , and how the stories came to be. 

My kids did enjoy the cake and they all did well at their first book signing. 

The Corner of Bitter and Sweet

Annabelle is the daughter of a famous actress who left a hit TV show to try something else , but has been hitting the bottle for the last couple years. Ben is a good friend , and has been in love with her mom for some time. He also has been like a dad to her since she has no clue about her dad. She also likes play-doh to help her cope through the day, and she loves lists.

 Janie and Annabelle are shopping in Whole Foods , when they run into Billy. He is a much younger , hotter actor , and interested in Janie. When her Janie gets a DUI and drives backwards..its time for her go to rehab.

This is Annabelle's and Janie journey with alcohol in their lives. Annabelle has been taking care of her mom for some time. Janie starts to see the error , but also steps it up to being a mom.

Annabelle loves to take pictures , and has gotten some very intimate pictures of her mom. Its her journal , and she is scared to show it to the world. Annabelle does something to help her mom , but it also changes her life too.

This book was light on the romance but more so about how alcohol can effect families. Annabelle also went to meetings to talk about the issues about her mom with other teenagers. This was alot like Gilmore Girls because it was the mother daughter relationship that grew and changed through out the book. Janie & Annabelle do both find some romance . This was a fast read, and I admit I cry during some scenes.

In the After Book review

The earth has been taken over by Aliens and these are green ones. Amy is alone and both parents were never able to come back. Her mom is always busy with work. Her dad was very Eco friendly . Amy is at her home when this all goes down. Luckily her home has some protections.

Amy is living on her own , and finds baby who she cares for and has a mother/daughter relationship. Also Baby doesn't talk at all. So they are doing their own sign language. Amy and Baby have been on their own for some time before they get taken. Amy can also defend herself pretty well against the aliens.

Amy and baby are taken to a compound, and that's where the story got more interesting. Amy also finds a family member there. This book was good but also reminded me the 5th wave. Amy remembers her life before and we see all those memories.
Amy is very curious about many things , but she never really get her questions answered. She find some romance but this book touched on it very lightly. She also has many secrets revealed to her while on the compound, and things aren't what they seem to be.

The Summer I became a Nerd & Transparent

Very cute story of a girl who loves comics. Maddie  goes into her local store and borrows the Comic from Logan. She has always loved comics, and acts like she likes this pop star for her friends. She has parents who are involved and concerned about her . She also finds a romance with Logan, but she realizes that she needs to break up with her football boyfriend. This book is cute romance , and loved all the comics hero's sprinkled though out the book.

I bought this book and this is my Honest Review






Fiona McClean is invisible and her dad runs the" business". She and her mom run away to this small town. She has older brothers that are watching out for them. She also is going to school , and has a math tutor Seth.  She slowly starts making friends, and learns of others with abilities. I also loved seeing Parentals in this book too. She has to make some tough choices with her family , and she also learns to trust.
