Fifteen-year-old Julien Losier just wants to fit in. But after his family moves to a small village in central France in hopes of outrunning the Nazis, he is suddenly faced with bigger challenges than the taunting of local teens.
Nina Krenkel left her country to obey her father's dying command: Take your brother and leave Austria. Burn your papers. Tell no one you are Jews. Alone and on the run, she arrives in Tanieux, France, dangerously ill and in despair.
Thrown together by the chaos of war, Julien begins to feel the terrible weight of the looming conflict and Nina fights to survive. As France falls to the Nazis, Julien struggles with doing what is right, even if it is not enough-and wonders whether or not he really can save Nina from almost certain death.( Goodreads.com)
I read only 150 pages of this book story. I also understand that it was based on a real event. I had a tough time connecting to anyone . I also found it preachy at times. I understand that the authors were not trying for that , but I felt it more preachy.
I thought these ladies were trying to be like PC Cast and her daughter with this christian book. I tried to read as much as I could because I did want to see what happened with Nina and Julian , but when the pacing , and not clear voices by the Chapter titles ..I felt like I was lost and I really didn't care what happened to either of them.
If you enjoy reading about events fictionalized then this is book for you. I do think the cover is pretty .
Book Review= Did Not Finish
Thanks to Litfuse for the book and this is my Honest Review

The premise sounds really good~but it's hard to finish a book when you don't connect with any of the characters.
ReplyDeleteReally? I loved it. I found it compareable to The Hiding Place. Thanks for being honest though!
