romance

Layla inherits a valley full of roses. Matthew has been working and running the valley. He has been taking care of it and he feels its him.

He is drunk and very attracted to Layla. They end up kissing on his birthday. She loves the land , and it opens up her creative juices. They are attracted to each other , and not the other cousins that live around there. She is singer that goes by the name belle. This almost  reminded me of Beauty and the Beast but with roses. Matt could be such a grumpy bear. I loved the sexy times.

I enjoyed reading this new series and this reminded me that  I needed to read her other books in her Chocolate series with Patrick, Dom, and Luc.

The Heart of Christmas

The Heart of Christmas
#7 in the series
adult
Harlequin
Oct 28

Eve is turning 35 , and goes to sexy Sadie's, and she goes home with a man. He also happens to be a patron of the B & B. He is hiding out and doing business. Eve also know's about Chey's secret. Ted & Sophia are also in this book.

Eve & Brent are both attracted to each other. They both can't seem to stay away from each other. He is keeping secrets and he doesn't want to hurt her. Eve and Brent figure out on their first night that they weren't always safe with sex. She might be pregnant. She also doesn't want secrets with her parents since they are visiting.

Eve does some sleuthing about Brent. Ted is protective of her , and he wants to solve the mystery of the B & B. Her friends end up helping her and Brent out. Dylan and Chey are a big part of this book too.

I am still on the fence with this series. There was a lot of lying happening through out the book, and many secrets being kept. The situation with Chey isn't resolved yet, but we are getting closer to it. It feels like that we are in a soap opera. Ted, Sophia, Dylan were all busy bodies to Eve and Brent's relationship. It appears that 7th seems to be my break up book. I do want to see what happens with Chey & Dylan, but I don't care since that relationship was destroyed by LYING. This book had so many lies & secrets and it just like the previous book. Brent did have some serious issues to deal with but I never saw them on a date. It seemed that this was a sexual relationship.

I do love this group and glad to see so many of them are getting their Happy Ever After's . I love this series and this is a local author to me. Ugh I wish I wasn't so Meh about this book.

*** I just found that Brent/Rex is from another one of her book series. Still I didn't like the lying.

Finding it

Kelsey is Bliss friend who is traveling Europe with no set destination in mind. She has had many one night stands, and drinks a lot. She is trying to forget her painful past and the many family issues .

Kelsey meets Hunt , and always seems to put her foot in her mouth with him. She is very attracted to him . She is blunt and Honest with him, and what she would like to happen with him. Hunt also has some issues that he is dealing with too. He is also keeping a secret from her too. While there is incident that bring them together , I did enjoy their travels , and how they slowly let down their walls.

Hunt and Kelsey also had some HOT moments , and some very fun adventures. I started this book and stayed up late to read it. But there was only 1 issue that I would have liked to been resolved , but it wasn't at all.

The Star Attraction book Review

Sophie  is a publicist in Los Angeles and has been in relationship with Jacob ( Jake ) for the past two years. She finally gets to be in charge a popular star Billy Fox . There is an attraction with Billy.

She has a good friend in Izzy who is already married and has a child. She becomes more frustrated with her Jake , and flirty with Billy.

There was lots of references to stars, TV shows, and even a mention of Fifty shades of Grey ( which I have never read). There was references to sex scenes but they usually faded to black. This was cute fast read , and enjoyed this chick lit. There was even a shout out to the author's soap Opera Days of our Lives mentioned. It was interesting to see the publicist side of the job. I think the other book I read with a publicist was Brenda Novak series which I adore. Through out the book , there are some 80's movies mentioned too.

Wild for the Girl Book Review

TJ loves to work with horses because they don't hurt you. She meets  Reese who is the son of the boss of where she works at the resort. She also helps a movie star Tad learn how to handle horses. Tad is a total flirt.
TJ is attracted to Reese and there is a connection there. She tells it like it , and doesn't put up with crap. She doesn't want to fall for a local boy. Reese is city boy who has come to help his dad while he recuperating. Reese has broken things off with Caroline , but she hasn't gotten the message.

Tad has an interest into the TJ into his bed . She has two men interested into her. She needs to make a choice of where her heart lies.

Cute romance and loved being in both of their heads. But my only complaint with this book that it felt like it was a lot of telling and not showing what happening. Very fast read , and loved that it was horse rider story.

Best Line: She refused to believe the other footnote that had popped up, the one that said Reese might be different. He had strong ties to Barringer's Pass. Maybe , just maybe he wouldn't leave.
Right, and the maybe the sun would rise in the west. If she believed either one, she was an idiot.

The Marriage Trap Book Review

Michael needs to be married before his cousin Venezia can be married to her love. Michael also runs a company , and is a billionaire. Maggie is a photographer of underwear models.  He hatches a plan to find a fake wife , when he visits his family in Italy. He has been attracted to Maggie since their first date. Maggie has been looking for someone too. She has done a love spell with all the qualities that she wants in mate.

Michael and Maggie go back to Italy, and there she meets his family. She is welcomed with open arms. His mother does question the FAKE Fast wedding . There is an attraction to each other.

They both have some very witty lines. There was some light BDSM. This was a fast read, and I did stay up late reading it. Yes is did have the fake wife/husband troupe, but I did enjoy seeing it with the family. Maggie passes the book onto his sister Carina . We also learn who she is attracted to from this book. This was a cute romance . This was also my first time reading this author. I do want to see what happens in the next book.

Best Line: Be careful , Cara. Toying with me maybe fun, but eventually I will tire and force your hand

Blaze of Winter Book Review

Theo Grayson is the twin of Seb .He is a writer that comes back to town to get his writing mojo back. He was in San Francisco for a time. He meets Avie while staying at the hotel to write.

While there is an attraction to each other, they are taking their time. Avie is back home to figure out what she wants to do while taking time off from being a social worker. She is there  help her Aunt Kate get better. Avie also plays the violin.

As a couple they deal with their new insecurities and figuring out what is going on between them. There is also some mystery and suspense in the town.

Avie and Theo has lots of missed communication about their relationship. I cared a lot more about the secondary characters more  what I normally do. This was a cute romance , and a light read. I loved learning more about the Grayson boys and all the trouble that they caused. There was a wedding in this book. I think I will read more of this series and the Grayson boys.

The Great Escape Book Review

Lucy Jorik is the daughter of the president. Her life is perfect or so it seems. She decides to run away from fiance Ted on her wedding day. She gets a ride with a guy on a motorcycle named Panda.

Lucy is 31 and has a mid life crisis. She doesn't want to go home and deal with anyone. She would rather hide out with Panda. There is some attraction between them, and some very witty lines between them. Panda takes them to a remote cabin, and they get to know each other a little bit more. Then he tells her that he is a body guard at the airport, and she decides that she wants to find Panda's House.

Panda is a body Guard and has worked for her parents for some time. His name is Patrick . He owns this huge house , that has lots of memories for him.

Lucy takes over the house, and starts fixing it up. All the while looking like goth girl named Viper with ratty hair. Lucy also makes friends with the neighbors Bree, Toby , and Mike. Panda also gets another job that takes place at his house, and he has to help Temple. The house is filled up with people, and there is still tension between Panda and Lucy.

I enjoyed this book and I do enjoy reading romances but this book touched PTSD or some of the effects of war , and an almost rape but then swept them under the like it was nothing. I am glad that these issues were brought up.  The side characters were more enjoyable than Lucy at times. I wanted to smack her sometimes because she was always so angry at everything and everyone. I did enjoy that Lucy mid life crisis and trying to find herself. I enjoyed Panda and his tough exterior but a marsh mellow on the inside. Panda also really loved kids.

Best Line: That kiss had your guilty conscience smeared all over it. she said. You wanted some kind of absolution because you knew how exactly sleazy you were.

Be the Best at what you are good at

Highlander Christmas-- Book Review

Camry 32 year virgin scientist emailed Luke for about a year. He wants to work with her on the project. She a midlife crisis and gives up science to tend bar and walk dogs. Luke meets her parents and they want him to bring her home on Winter Solstice( her birthday). She is the 7th daughter in her family.

This is light reading. This is part of a series about sisters and finding their mates. Her Family is into Gaelic Magic and she becomes a scientist like her mother. I liked that Camry and Luke had emailed and then the instant attraction came after meeting.

The topics through out the book are Free Will, Destiny, Magic, Logic and Science, Family.

This is fluff book and loved that it was centered around Christmas. This was a fast read for me.

Love you to Death-- Book Review

It's been days since reporter Elise McBride has heard from her sister, Ashley. She's convinced Ashley has met with some kind of foul play, especially when she learns that bodies of other missing women have surfaced in and around Chicago--all victims of a brutal serial killer. Convinced her sister is still alive, Elise vows to risk everything to save her... The last thing ex-cop Trent Brady needs is more blood on his hands. Yet when he catches Elise breaking into her sister's house, full of reckless determination and fear, he knows she needs his help. But just as desire ignites between them, a twisted madman sets his sights on Elise. Hell-bent on possessing her for himself, this psychopath won't rest until he has his perfect woman.( Goodreads.com)
This was actually a decent romance book. There was just enough action and romance.
In this book the reader to get a glimpse into the mind of the killer. He has some serious issues. This book also centered around family and those issues there. There was alot of family interaction through out the story. This is a romantic suspense novel and this was one of the better ones I have read.
Trent-- ex cop , neighbor to Ashley
Elise-- sister to Ashley, reporter,
Ashley- victim, sister to Elise
Sam-- brother to Trent, owns his own grass cutting business
This book is already out in Paperback and $6.99.

2 Romance Reviews

Commitment-phobic Sam Carson has only dated model-gorgeous women. But one stolen kiss from a plain-Jane schoolteacher and he's hell-bent on stripping away her floral dresses and teaching her the art of being bad. If only her good-girl ways didn't make him want to be a better man...

Ally Giordano is at the end of her rope. Her beloved grandmother actually believes that she's living in her favorite romance novel in Regency England and Ally doesn't have the heart to set her straight. But now Granny Donny's last wish is for a retreat to the country and Ally can't refuse her...until she demands that Sam accompany them. And though his smiles turn her knees into jelly, Ally knows better than to trust a playboy...and she definitely knows better than to try to change one. Or does she? (Goodreads.com)

I liked the story and loved the regency era along with the modern era with the story. Liked the characters..but pure romance..girl meets boy, girl has problems, boy has some problem, whirlwind romance with mad passionate sex, trying to figure out the relationship, they break up, and then get back together.

I like reading these books and they are to me..pure fluff/light reading. I don't think I'm the best to doing these reviews, but I do enjoy reading them.

Angel Sabato has been in love with best friend Grace O'Brien for 10 years--but he's only just realized it. Too bad she doesn't take him seriously when he tells her about his feelings. Reeling from the rejection, Angel hightails it out of town. Now Grace is left to wonder if her problems from the past are keeping her from opening herself to love. But she brushes these "useless" musings aside, concentrating instead on the work she's doing as an apprentice to folk healer Tante Lulu and keeping up with the old woman's good deeds. Such as starting a foundation to help families still homeless after Hurricane Katrina. One family consists of 5 children who lost their parents. The eldest, only seventeen, has been struggling to take care of her siblings and lying like heck to the state agencies in order to keep everyone together. Tante Lulu and Grace take the children under their wings and decide the foundation will build a house for them. Re-enter Angel, who helps with the construction. Unbeknownst to Grace, Tante Lulu has decided to try her hand at matchmaking again. And Tante Lulu has never failed before! (Goodreads.com)

Cute story and loved the New Orleans influence on this story. I loved that there was a matchmaker who put couple together with out their knowledge. But this fluff reading for me. Liked the strong female characters in this book.

I did enjoy reading the novels , and not going to rate these books per the usual way. My DH doesn't mind me reading these novels . Naughty Girl Laugh.
