Soulless-- BWB review

First she has no soul. Second, she is spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire-and then the appalling Lord Maccon( loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.( Back of the book)

Alexia- strong, assertive
Lord Maccon- werewolf, cute, loud, BUR Liaison
Lynall- beta wolf

I love the Cover of this book.

Alexia reminds me of Buffy in the Victorian era in England. I found this character to a breath of fresh air. I lover her snarky comments to her family.

Alexia is a strong female and happens to find her self in a mystery when she kills a vampire. I was surprised that they had rules for it.

She works for the BUR organization and this reminded a bit of Some Girls Bite novel and the houses and and there is one central organization where all the supernaturals are registered and that the city knows about them. The werewolves and vamps go missing. There are people trying to kill Alexia.

I liked the friendship with her friend Miss Hisselpenny and was hoping for a love connection there too.

I did like the romance between Lord Maccon and Alexia. It seemed real enough and loved that she stood her ground when talking with him. It seemed that they have known each other for some time and finally realized their attraction to one another. Curious about the gold Octopus mentioned through out the story. This a book that I will pass along to my friends to read. It so different but a pleasant change and loved the parasol aspect of it.

Still Midnight-- Book Review

Alex Morrow is a cop in Glasgow , Scotland. She isn't new to the police force- or to crime--but there is nothing familiar about the call she has just received.
On a still night in quiet suburb of the city, armed men have slipped from a van into a house, demanding a man who is not , and has never been , inside their home. In the confusion that ensues, one family member is shot and another kidnapped, the assailants demanding an impossible ransom. Later , the same van is discovered abandoned and burnt in the woods beside the highway. Is this all an amateur crime gone wrong or something more unexpected ?? ( Back of the book)
This is my first time reading this author and was new to her writing style.
This book has many point of Views and at times it was confusing .
Alex Morrow is partners with Bannerman. This story takes place over a couple days trying to solve this crime. On this day we meet her brother Danny , who doing illegal activities and he has an idea of who is good or bad.
There was some romance in this novel because this book had very little of it and who had the romance was surprising too.
The reader didn't even find out about Alex life until the middle of the novel and those were just breadcrumbs. I was shocked to find out about the news, but It did add to the character of Alex and her by the book and trying to succeed in all boys office. It was nice to meet her husband Brian and learn more of her home life.
I have no clue is this the middle or first of a Series about Alex Morrow. It does leave the door open for another book about her.
I did like the tension between Bannerman and Alex.

Thanks to Little Brown for the book and this is my Honest Review.

The Memory Thief-- Book Review

"Burning down Black Snack trailer was easy. The hard thing was walking away, when what I wanted most was to watch it die.."

When Angel sets fire to her childhood home, it isn't the end--its the beginning.Left with nothing but a few memories in her pocket, Angel escapes into the fields of tobacco, the only place she has felt safe.Hidden by those green-gold leaves, she sets her eyes on the moutains and believes someone waits for her there. Angel will do whatever she has to do until she finds it. She longs to empty her pockets, hand over the answers to what became of her, and whisper This is my story ( Back of the book)

There are 2 main point of views of Hannah and Angel.

I loved the cover of this book. This is my first time reading this author.

Hannah-- Holy Roller parents, gets job at steam clammers for the summer, falls in love with Sam, becomes an artist, marries someone

Angel-- Farm helper, has a rough life of alcohol, abuse and is a thief.

Bethie- Sister to Hannah

This is a story of a Mother and daughter . This book was rich in color descriptions with blue, green, and gold overtones. Its a beautiful story and I cried and this book taught me not to read ahead because I thought one thing and was totally blindslided by a different aspect of the story. I was rooting for both Hannah and Angel.

Mothers aren't always nice and Families aren't so perfect. There are secrets, babies, love, and redemption.

There is a reading group guide in this book and there are some great questions.

The Superstress Solution--Book Review

Since this is a new year I wanted to make sure that I wasn't very stress full since we do have 5 kids and I'm very busy.

I did the tests and found out that I'm not as stressed as I could be. This book also gives great ideas on food ideas, reducing stress, taking vitamins, getting enough sleep.

It also mentions about doing a Gratitude journal

physical activity

different ways to relax

vitamins

I would class this as self help book and great for figuring how stress you are and what causes the stress in your life.

Thanks to FSB Media for this book and this is my Honest review.

This weeks plans

  • Scouts
  • Achievement days
  • Helping out in A's class
  • date night
  • baby shower
  • book reviews / blog posts

This is pretty tame week and DH has new church calling..Its something he has before and he can have his own schedule. Trying to figure out what to do for Date night.

On Sunday I taught 6-7 years about Choosing the Right-- I had 10 kids in my class. It was a blast and I think the kids had fun.

I sent to my daughter schools for snack -- 24 Goldfish along with the Fishful bag to my child school.

I think I got all the stuff figured out with the school district. That's good business if you don't return phone calls or make all the directions easy to understand..because they aren't very clear.
