Are you Prepared for a Disaster?

I hosted a Event with California Volunteers at my house and we had good food. I learned lots from Dan at Cosumnes River Fire Department. He was the CERT person to discuss all the disaster one family can face.

While eating lunch, we discussed any major events or disasters we have been in through our lifetimes. Many people talked about Earthquakes , some tornado's, and floods.

I remember going to help the people in Yuba City when I was young adult and helping them in their troubled times. I remember helping the this one person and they so many magazines that they have saved over their lifetime and once the water hit..it garbage.

Some of the people had some emergencies supplies ready to go with others are taking baby steps with all of emergencies needs. We do have some food storage but need to prepare on other things, that's why this discussion was so helpful to me.

A suggestion was to have a Garbage can filled with emergencies supplies and having a spare set of clothes and shoes.
California Volunteers has been helping families since September 11,2001. They have been helping coordinate volunteer activities to make our communities safer. Since 1989, there have been 27 major disasters man made or natural. California is state that sends out help to other states in their times of need like Hurricane Katrina.

We then went on a tour on my house. I did get some ideas things that need more support , and other rooms in the house like the Kitchen, we did good.

There is alot of information at http://www.redcross.org/ and http://www.californiavolunteers.org/ to help become better prepared in the event of a emergency.

( This is a handy 72 hour bag & giveaway) There is also a cute book to help kids become more aware of emergencies. My kids enjoyed looking at it.

I bet you are thinking, this sounds like a lot of work. Its not , its baby steps..like you are at the store buying food , you can buy an extra juice or food that your family likes to eat.

Has your family changed over time ? Do you have all of your important information handy ? Did you know that long distance would be up before local calls ? Do you have a place to meet up in the event of a emergency ? Is there someone you can all call if you get separated ? Here is the Checklist on being Prepared.

I learned lots of information today and I meet some other bloggers in my area.

Thanks to Jairo, Karen, and Jessica for letting do this giveaway and be apart of the outreach of California Volunteers.

Are you prepared in a Disaster ? What are you doing be prepared ??(I'm giving away 3 sets of these to my winners-- 4 pack for a family. Giveaway goes til Dec 4th and US Residents.

Shattered -- Book Review

Back of book Blurb: Nine years Kate Grayhawk Pendleton walked into Wyatt Shaw's life and out of it the next morning. Now Wyatt's back and has the power to shatter Kate's Future with the man she loves.

By Rep, Wyatt Shaw is brutal killer who always gets what he wants, and now he wants Kate and her twin eight years old sons.

Texas Ranger Jack McKinney is hot on the Wyatt Shaw's trail. The presumed heir to D'amto crime syndicate is threatening to steal the women he loves.

This part of a Series called Bitter Creek#8. This is Mystery Romance book.

Never had read this author before.

Jack--Holly --Married

Jack was dating Kate

Kate is married to JD

JD is "Dead"

Shaw is the Biological dad to Kate's Twin boys ( Lucky, Chance)

The book is told in all these Point of Views. There was action and romance but it seemed to be evened out through out the book.

Family is important part of this book. Whether the bad or good...there is always family. Everyone has a secret to keep. But with Secrets, they tend to have a way of coming out.

My Review--3

Thanks to Planned Television arts for this book and this is my HONEST Review.

Week & Wrap up

This week ...I did all that I wanted to accomplish and learned lots about Family Safety and meet some really awesome women.

I was talking with my sister this morning and she was surprised to learn that I didn't go to the New moon movie at Midnight...I told her that I liked it, but not into as much as I was last year. I've been hearing from my online friends and my sister that the movie is really good. So I'll watch it later. Amazing the change over 1 years time..Guess it been because I've reading other books.

I have a Date with DH tonight..its been so long since we went out.

I have planned the Thanksgiving menu and my MIL , and BIL and their families are also going celebrate this day together. I'm making dinner with DH.

In my Mailbox-- My first ever

Look at what I got in my mailbox today...I got some personal books I have wanted to read , so there isn't those pics...I have a lot of reading to do...
Doing the Happy Dance...I have my Sisters Red book. Oh the Allie Finkle's Books are from Meg Cabot of Princess Diary's Fame....

Queen of Light--BWB

In a time not long from now the veil between fantasy and reality is ripped asunder - creatures of myth and fairy tale spill into the mortal world. Enchanted yet horrified, humans force the magical beings Underground, to colonize the sewers and abandoned subway tunnels beneath their glittering cities. But even magic folk cannot dwell in harmony, and soon two Worlds emerge: the Lightworld, home to faeries, dragons and dwarves; and the Darkworld, where vampires, werewolves, angels and demons lurk. Now, in the dank and shadowy place between Lightworld and Darkworld, a transformation is about to begin... Ayla, a half faery, half human assassin, is stalked by Malachi, a Death Angel tasked with harvesting mortal souls. They clash. Immortality evaporates, forging a bond neither may survive. And in the face of unbridled ambitions and untested loyalties, an ominous prophecy is revealed that will shake the Worlds. ( Goodreads.com)

Different woman/ loner man meet and instant dislike or want to kill them or each other. They fight to the death. They touch and have an instant connection. There both have to deal with some insurmoutable odds , both the man/woman. They either face it together or separately and then the Happily Ever After or leaves the door open for another book.

Ayla is a strong female character who is half human and fairy. She is Lightworld .Malachi is a fallen Angel. He is considered darkworld. They are both stubborn and very different from the rest of the worlds. I liked they both had people helping them on their journey.

Okay. This is my first time reading this author. It take me a while to get into the story. I love reading about fairies/angels/vampires and this had it all. It did take me a while to get into the story with all the different scenes and characters.

The story was told in Malachi/ Ayla/Garret / Queene's Point of Views. I was able to guess it was going to be a series by the back of the book with the titles already out.

There was alot of action then romance which I think was great for this book and its seemed to even it self out with both.

I did love the Fight scene and what it for told and how the characters showed love and what happens to the person/character. I also loved how it showed what a person would do when they give up someone they love and what the future means to them.

Book Review- 3

BWB-2

Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

#1 Did you have an understanding of the world created by this novel, or did you find the complexity too much? I found it to be a little complex with all the dark and light.

#2 In a book that it appears many have trouble liking, what is one thing that you like about this book? I liked that there were strong female characters.

#3 Did you agree with the author’s decision to make Ayla a fierce assassin in battle and a weakling in her emotions? For example her obvious contempt for Garret but yet her willingness to be his mate and subject herself to his demeaning manor? I think that this is standard for female characters, they have to struggle with something and that was her struggle.

#4 What do you think the significance of the the baby Ayla carries is/will be? I think the baby will be what unites the worlds.

#5 What do you think of Ayla's ascension to the throne? Do you believe she accepted her own destiny too easily? I thought that was unrealistic and thought that she accepted the the crown to easily all because she was supposed to wed Garret...well hey..I was dating Prince William, he dies and then I become queen..Not likely.

This is my honest review and I bought the book.

Crayola Holiday Ideas--Review

Thanks to Myblogspark & Crayola, my family and I were able to try these great product for Kids and the Holidays and this is my HONEST review.

I was surprised when I did get the box at my door step. It had 3 items in it. I put it off to the side and took out the paper to put and have the kids play later.

They are the easiest thing to put together and have the kids start playing right away. My kids always get excited when they see and when we get new toys.

My kids only liked 2 of the 3 items. They liked the Crayola Beginnings and the Crayola Glow writing pad. The Crayola Color Dome only got a lukewarm response.

On Saturday-- 2 kids were doing the Glow in the Dark Pad and having fun with the Stencils. While 3 other kids were listing to music and coloring and trying to decide if they wanted a Guitar, Drum, Piano, or Trumpet sound. All my 5 Kids enjoyed the coloring and being Creative.

The Crayola Beginnings Color me a Song comes with Crayons...you only need paper and imagination. This is good for kids 24+months and above and $24.99

The Crayola Glow Station was a hit with all my kids. They loved using the wand and all the of the Stencils that came with it. Suggested age is 6+..but I found it was usable for all ages, just had to add sharing the 1 pen and stencils. Price is about $ 29.99

The Crayola Color Explosion Glow Dome was the lukewarm response in my house. I Love the idea behind the way kids can be creative. It has 4 different spins and kids are able to watch their artwork glow and spin. Definitely for ages 6+ and $ 29.99.

The kids did like all the items...Thanks so much for letting my kids try them out and I'm sure that thier imaginations are going to soar with all these Creative ideas.
