Author Behaving Badly

I have been mulling over this for some time. I seem to get  author going crazy in the summer time and they disagree with me over silly stuff. Last year it was the number of stars on Goodreads.

Say for example you review their book , and its Meh book to you. Then you email back and forth with the author and tell them that one of their books was a DNF. So you as a common courtesy decide not to post that review on the blog, but still keep the review up on another book thought place. The author leaves a comment on your review and mentions that I got a bad copy.  But you got a bad copy and there wasn't any mention of a bad copy going around on all the emails sent.

Before you post the review , you are noticing the interaction on Twitter and self promotion of their books but too much with their fans. Also since you have reviewed the books, you are now on an email list and get emails all the time about the books and thinks that now she has an available promotion team since you reviewed the books.

I am not naming the author but I have been made aware.

What would you do and be professional ??
Do you emails from authors once you have reviewed their books ?
Are these more self published authors or Big Book publishers ??
What do you want too see from authors ??
Do you follow authors on Goodreads ???
What about authors who give their books 5 stars ??
Anything else on your mind regarding this topic

The New toolbar & things happening

I had a dream while I was younger to be a reporter, but having this blog has lead to a new opportunity for me. My blog posts will now in with the Sacramento Bee --all Book information and local authors. Books that have amazing covers.

I'm almost done with my local author series and have met some amazing ladies. I have also read some amazing books by them. Not all of them have made it to the blog , but I have made it point to read their books.

I also wanted to say that I will having 1 local contest and review for learning exchange coming up soon.

Other than that this blog is all books, most of time when I decided to post something about my kids.

On that note: My son will be getting an award today. Conferences all went well. I was concerned but my kids did even better than I expected.

I have found some more local book bloggers , so we talk books.

Random Edition

Went to dinner at a local french restaurant for the Anniversary . It was yummy.

Kids are home this next week due to Presidents week. I remember when it was only just the weekend when I was going to school.

Had to make a change to books I review for local authors.

I got this week , which was a surprise.

Reading 2 books right now and they are much better than the last book I reviewed. That's all that's happening in my world.

Happy Anniversary to DH. I hope to have many more years with you. I agree that the years together have flown by since the wedding. I love you.

Friday Ramdomness

Well this week was the Blue & Gold dinner and my ds got a kit for the Pinewood Derby car. He is very excited to build it...Can you guess his theme  for the Car ??? Those who know my son--already have some idea...

Been busy with getting all the paperwork together for K's  Kindergarden registration

Taking A out to Red Robin because this month she got the HONESTY award in her class.

My kids and I are all excited to go see Amy and new little baby, along with the rest of the family.

More Randomness

A was Student of the week in her Class. She was excited to be the leader and I got to bring snacks for all the kids.

I missed going to the Momslikeme event ( Women in Work) for many reasons ...sick kids, and didn't want to abuse my friend babysitters that I use once in a while.

My lesson for Church is done and having a Board meeting after church. Woot Hoot.

I'm Hosting a Blog Event at my House about Family Safety through California Volunteers and will be discussing : The event would include several key speakers from California Volunteers including head Karen Baker( Not coming) and a CERT safety instructor to give you tangible information to prepare you in case of a disaster.

Talk about the our popular downloadable, customize-able Family Plan http://californiavolunteers.org/familyplan/plan.html as it helps teach kids (in a non-scary way) how to memorize what to do, telephone numbers, etc.

Oh New moon comes out that Friday Nov 20. Yes I have my Ticket to go to the show.


I have also scheduled all my kids Parent/Teacher conferences and its almost time to registrar K for Kindergarten.

I did do school pics of the kids, and I just need to have them printed up for Family.

Randomness in my life

Well have sick kids here..older kids turned in Kinders homework today.

I must still have what DH passed along to me..

K had her 4 year check up and got 3 shots. She was very brave and that means in January that I get to register her for Kindergarten. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

M is doing well in school. She loves Achievement days and has blossomed with her friendships with her school friends/neighbors.

B is doing better and right now we are reading Harry Potter and sorcerers stone together. He is still into Ben 10:Alien Force and put on the Calendar when the Alien Swarm movie will be this month. B is doing very well in scouts..almost done completing wolf.

My lesson for church is done and I know my kids are in the class are excited for a Ice Cream Party at the end of the year.

I've been very blessed to have met some wonderful online and real friends. I've met you all through different places and if we ever do meet in real life ...I do call you FRIEND.

My MIL is now in the Area and planning Thanksgiving with her and my BIL family too. We are hosting it this year and it will be nice for the kids to see their Granny.

My Sister Amy is having her 1st baby pretty soon. I'm so excited for her.


Its almost New moon Movie time..I hope that this movie is better than Twilight. I didn't like the actress that plays Bella. She seems to have one facial expression in all of her movies and she blinked way too much. I hope the director got the vision to follow the BOOK.

I know that Movies from Books are never as good as the Novel. But I heard that The Hunger Games is going to be a MOVIE. This I want to see

Ramblings

Well I don't have to teach on Sunday...we are singing for 2 hours. I'm hoping all my 4 kids at least know their lines.

Helping out with Momslikeme at the Just Between Friends. DH is working late tonight.

Reading a new book to review soon.

A got an award from school ...doing her best award.

I'm so glad that Fall TV is back. I have been able to check out some new shows and add them to the DVR.

I'm hurting myself

This week I tripped on something on Sunday..hurt my sides and this happened before church.

Yesterday I stubbed my toe into our table. It appears that I have broke my toe. Its purple and its hurts to walk. I'm feeling like Bella Swan from Twilight.

Back to regular programming.

We are Back to school...Yeah 4 kids are in school-- So far all kids like their teachers.

My 400 th Post- Updates of Sort

Saw the movie trailer for Law Abiding Citizen-- The movie looks good with action, intrigue , and mystery. Probably rated R. I was WOW just over the trailer...

You all know about my thing for Gerard Butler. Since this my blog and I haven't posted pics of my drool worthy men in quite a while...This is for me and you. I haven't even seen The Ugly Truth yet with him in it. Maybe its because Katherine Heigl is in the movie.

This coming week is Kinder Orientation, checking some schools out for me

We also have another dentist appointment for 2 kids

Also have date night this week , and find out the kids have for teachers this week, before school starts next week. I'm excited for the routine to start back up , and make lunch for the kids, and excited for them as they grow and progress in school. I'm going to have 4 kids in school-- 1 preschool/speech.

I'll be posting some more book reviews pretty soon.

School Thoughts and ramblings

Well I have made a couple calls to local schools and will be checking them out. I'll be chcking them out next week and trying to figure my schedule out.

My kids start school in less than 2 weeks and we are prepared for them already with school clothes and backpacks. I had to put the back packs up so that the kids won't play with them. We have got this year for a Wizards of Waverly Place, Hello Kitty, Transformers , and Disney Princess. Guess of which of my kids has the right one and I'll send you a book that I loved.

Do you like the book reviews ? Are you interested in the books once I recommend or not recommend them ? I've only been doing this for a couple of months and so I'm trying to find a nice balance of not ruining the story but saying whether I would buy it or even if If I could relate to the characters. After doing this ...I have only ran into 2-3 books that I didn't like at all. The other Books I have read and shared with family and friends. I have even turned a girlfriend onto a author. I have found new authors that I want to read now.

Right now I'm reading Spooner and doing that review and I'm also reading Wuthering Heights, and Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire( rereading the whole series since the last time I read this was when my oldest was a baby). That's all on my night stand.

Randomness

Well my time with Mops ends on Tuesday. I'm happy and sad about the experience. I have loved doing MOPPETS for the past 2 years but I'm feeling burnt out. I need to buy the Gift Cards for the Volunteers before the meeting.

Tonight we are going out on a Date Night. We don't have set date night but I do try to make them once a month or something along those lines. We are seeing a movie either Star Trek or Wolverine.

I pretty much crossed everything off my do list. Yeah me. Busy planning my ds Baptism BBQ.

I went to IKEA for the first time on Thursday. I liked what I saw and might come back to shop when I had more time. It was a momslikeme event. I was a Tour Guide for the Stroller Moms. I had my double stroller and my little girls. I got to meet many moms there that I haven't met before.

I'm teaching on Sunday in primary.

I think this year has been more to the point of saying NO at times. I have learned what I can handle and not handle. WOW.

I'll be having 2 kids in speech summer school and I will potty training both of them. Its time for K.
