Mini reviews --Demonosity & Earthbound

An ancient myth + a mean girl + a reluctant warrior = a lively take on good vs. evil

Cassidy  dad isn't feeling too good. She gets a tattoo of hope , and her life changes. She meets Travis & Thomas  who are both guardians of the grimoire, and both are Knights. She needs to protect a mean girl Celeste, and save her friends from demons.

This book was different , but good. She is good friends with Nash. She is interested in other guys, and her mom wants her to be in the play. Very cute story .

Tavia survived a plan crash. She is living with her aunt and uncle right now. She is also unable to draw.

She is friends with Benson, who she is slightly crushing on. They have been friends for quite a while. She starts seeing a guy and triangle shapes on houses.

She finds out that she is a Earthbound, and that she can do things. She goes on a road trip with Benson , once she finds out that there has been some lying going on within the house. She wants to find out more about her past.

This was a dark book , and there was alot of death through out the book. I can see a triangle forming ( not referring to the cover) but I hope not.

This was different from her wings series, and I enjoyed the mythology behind it. I did love seeing Tavia change , but I think could have been resolved with a discussion.

Jeff is going to a new school in Santa Monica . He is the only one that can Kimberlee . She hasn't moved on yet, and she needs to give back everything she has taken. She works with Jeff to give things back. Jeff is interested in Sera , who also had some issues with Kimberlee.

I didn't know what to expect from this novel. I enjoyed reading it from Jeff's Point of View. I haven't read the The Scarlet Pimpernel  that this is supposed to based on at all. I did enjoy seeing active parents in the book, but there was a scene that didn't need to be there.

Stand alone

Abbie Sinclair has lost the love of her life. She heads to Stargazey point to recuperate. She stays in this Bed & Breakfast with the Crispin family. She learns that things are going well for them. She also meets Cab Reynolds who is dealing with some issues. He is working on something secret. Abbie ends up making friends with the family, and healing from her issues. I didn't feel the heat from this romance.

This book was predictable and loved the family.

Elisa is on her way to rescue Hector. Throughout this book she is growing and changing with her relationships with Hector , Mara, and many others. Elisa also does have to make pretty big choices regarding  so many people. She also finds out more about herself .

I thought this was the perfect way to end the series.

Home to Whiskey Creek Book Review

Home to Whiskey Creek
Harlequin
4th in a series
Net Galley
July 30

Addy Davis is found in a mine where Noah Rackham's brother died 15 years ago.

Adelaide  is back to help with her Gran's diner. She is a chef that works in Davis. Noah is a bicycle rider and son of the mayor. Noah is also a side member of the group.
Baxter finally tells Noah of his feelings. Addy was gang raped 15 years ago and never told anyone. Her life is changed once she comes back to town.

While I love this serious topic that was brought up, and wanted more healing from Addy. She has been in therapy for many years since the incident.
Noah is part of the group but wasn't one of the characters I wanted to see. I wanted to see Baxter, Eve, Ted or Kyle. Heck Gail only phone's in her visit to the story. While I love this group and friendships, I wanted more of the core group. I love Ted & Dylan.  I did enjoy the sleuthing that Addy did do to solve her incident in the mine. I wanted to see the couple connect sooner, but I understand the reasons why she wanted it to be slower. This book did have some sexy scenes and also fade to black.

This is one series I can't wait to see what happens next. I admit that I emailed the author over this book because I couldn't place Noah or Addy. They weren't really part of the core group of friends. I did get my questions answered and I know now whose books are coming up .

I do hope that Baxter finds the love that he deserves, but he is also the token gay of the this core group of Friends. Callie isn't mentioned much. Dylan and Cheyenne were in the book for their moments. I do think that a book with so many friends that it tends to be very busy and hard to keep track of all of the friends.

Siege and Storm Book Review

Siege and Storm
Henry and Holt
2nd in series
June 4
Review

Alina and Mal are on the run. She is almost taken by the Darkling. She is also taken captive by Strumhold . She learns more about the different amplifiers and works on understanding the myths. She also grows in power, and learns some secrets about Strumhold. Her relationship with Mal is tested , and Darkling is shadowing her.

Okay this book was very much hyped about being so good. I had to take my time and savor this world because I didn't want to be let down. Also second books in series do make or break whether I read on with it. That being said...this book was GOOD. I guess I love the bad boys in this series. I did love that new characters were introduced, and grew to love them too.
