Wild Cards Book Review

Wild Cards

Sept 24

Derek loves to play pranks  and one of them gets him in serious trouble. His father is away in the Navy , and his new step mother wants to move the family to Chicago. Ashtyn loves to play football . Derek also has issues with his family. Ashtyn is the kicker for the high school football team. Derek doesn't like Ashtyn boyfriend Landon.

Derek also has some secrets , and not letting anyone close to him. Ashtyn also has to deal with her sister and nephew now living with her again. They both challenge each other with their personalities.

This was usual Simone fare . Dual Point of views of Ashtyn and Derek. I loved being in their heads. This did remind me of her other series which I adored, and yes some sizzling hot scenes. There was lot of foreplay happening between these two characters. I loved that they were both smart and were determined to get their dreams . I adore this series , and can't wait to see who is next in the series.

Nora is a cook at her dad's BBQ restaurant. She enters to be on the Reality TV show called Taste Test. She is a county girl surrounded by all these legacy cooks and beautiful people. She makes an enemy with Christian ( who is a legacy). They like to verbally spar with each other.

During the book we are able to see a couple of cooking competition, but not all of them. I did enjoy the interviews with both of them and the other contestants. Christian has issues with his father. Nora also doesn't put up with his crap either. There is a lot of tension between them. Nora is also trying to solve the mystery with the other contestants.

Mixed Bag of Reviews --Icons, Fault Line, Big Girl Panties

I read about 20% into this book but didn't connect with anyone. I found the information about icons interesting. But it wasn't enough for to want to see what would happen.
Did Not Finish

Its already out
Ben is a jerk, and meets Ani in the 7-11 parking lot. He is really big into sports , and hanging out with his friends. Ani is a artist , and speaks her mind. They have already been sexually active for a while. Ani goes to a party is raped. Ben doesn't how to help his girlfriend. They both see a councilor number to talk about it.
Ben wants to help heal her , but Ani already feels like a whore so she is acting out. This book ends on weird note and none of the characters seem to change much.

Comes out Nov 12
Holly is a widow and has put on the weight. She is sitting next to Logan who is trainer. He helps her during the flight to just talk. He offers to train her.

During the couple months, there is tension and they are both good friends to each other. Logan wants to turn holly from an ugly duck into a swan. Once she loses some weight , and gets a make over from his married couple friends who are into spanking. Logan & Holly start changing their relationship from friends into more.

I didn't feel any heat during those sex scenes , and Logan wanted to help Holly lose that last little bit of weight. OMG i felt that he didn't really love her if all he cared about was the weight. I found the other couple to be a distraction from the story. I usually love chick lit romances , but I didn't Logan as much . He seemed very superficial , and the fact he didn't really want to take Holly out in public spoke volumes to me.

Avon is proud to announce the publication of  Laura Kaye’s second book in her hot Hard Ink series, HARD AS YOU CAN (on sale Feb 2014)

For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn't want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can-and never let go.

FanGirl Book Review

Fangirl
St. Martins Press
Stand Alone
Net Galley
Sept 10

Cath and Wren are twin sisters. They are both off to the same college with different room mates. Cath is also into the Simon Snow fan fiction  world. She has been working her last book called CARRY ON , and she wants it to be done before the real authors last book comes out.

Reagan  is her room mate and Levi is her friend. Reagan & Levi both try to get her away from the computer . Levi used to date Reagan, but he loves hanging out with Cath.

Cath is taking a writing class & works on a story with Nick. She also has some mother/father issues that she has to deal with during this year.

This book made my laugh and cry . I stayed up reading it. The Levi character kept me reading on, along with Cath. I was also curious how this fan fiction would be apart of this book. Cath & Wren both have their issues to work on too. This book was light , but there are some serious issues brought up through out. This does take place in college , so its not quite young adult , but its also not New adult.

I am fangirling over Fangirl. This is another Great book & I highly recommend it .

The truth about You and Me Book review

The Truth about you and me
Flux

Sept 8

Madelyn Hawkins is taking some college level course while still in High School. She is really attracted to her Biology Teacher . She runs into him while hiking one Saturday. Their friendship blossoms but there can't be any romance til she is not in his class. This year also happens to be a year of changes for Maddie . She really starts wondering what she wants to do in the future. She is 16 years old and he is much older. She is supposed to be this smart girl , but she makes some poor choices.

This book was told over 2 letters, and not to many breaks. I found the lying my omission to Bennett really sad . I also would have loved to have seen his point of view. I did get that she was very excited by this Relationship with an older man , who really got her. But I also found her to be an unreliable narrator because I didn't get know  how Bennett was dealing with everything. I didn't really connect with the romance either because it was in Letter format. I did enjoy the ending and I thought it to realistic.
